Can I get some opinions on some bodywork repair?

Ok Guys I'm getting the offside door sorted on the Monaro hopefully before the Rolling Road.

As you can see the door as been repainted at some point in its life but only upto the door handle which is very odd. The colour match on the rear quarter is fine but is very off against the front wing.

I've paid visited to several bodyshops in my local area and so far I've been told three different things. The first is that in order to do a colour match there is absolutly no other way other than redoing the entire side of the car at a cost of £1200, the other one is to just do the door and flick it into the wing and rear quarter at a cost of £300 and the other was to do the side of the car but only upto the rear quarter and blend it in at a cost of £400.

I'm not an expert here, but it sounds a wee bit odd to me to suggest to have to paint the whole side of the car to get the colour match - wouldn't the bonnet and front bumper then not match under this thinking?

Saying that I don't think 1200 quid for that is hugely expensive. What type of bodyshops gave you the options?

When I've had paint work done in the past, I went to the one with the best reputation - this was the porsche approved bodyshop. Not cheap, but when you want it done properly... and they haven't let me down yet.

That was a Stratsone garage that do the Aston Martins and Jags so very professional. There others were large chains and I feel I'd have more protection if they did a crap job.

I was charged £300 to spray just the door on my GT3 by Shorade, the job was perfect and the match was perfect. A top quality shop should be able to simply do the door. Do yourself a favour and get over to Shorade in Cannock.

Can recommend Coven Body Repairs in Wolverhampton (just off the A449 heading towards the M54 junction) if you wanted a second opinion or further quotes...not the cheapest but good work!

Took my car in to them (again) this morning for another scrape repair thanks to some car park numpty, and enjoyed the sound of the Ferrari F355 they'd had in starting up in a large echoey unit :D
