I have 2 birth certificates (different names) and was wondering if I could get a second driving licence/passport or something? I bet it would probably be illegal though right? :(

Would be cool gaving to driving licences. Get banned on one just start using the other. :D

Do your birth certificates have different details?

You can't get a second licence or passport in an alias. It's highly illegal.

Your second birth certificate wouldn't be under the name of "Charlie", would it?

Yeh, its illegal, most likely.
But it is possible, i know a few people who have two licenses.
Pretty handy, when you get banned.

Driving licence no...although i've heard of people have duplicate passports legally.
iirc if you have a real business reason for it you can have a second passport with the same details as the first (I think mainly for people who do business in the middle east where it may not be a good idea to have a passport with Israeli stamps in it).

I thought you could get stamps on seperate 'slips' instead for that very reason?

that's correct about duplicate passports - my dad had 2 passports for a while as he had business in Israel and Saudi Arabia.

It's possible to have more than one passport, I have two myself, an Irish and a British one. However I doubt very much that one person can hold two passports in the same country under different names.

Isn't getting them off a guy down the pub who knows someone's brother who can make them legal? :)

It's harder to forge them now, the new ones have got an electronic chip and an antenna in them. Can be used with facial biometric readers and all that.

2 Passports of the same name and same country is perfectly fine, it is generally used for visa stamps etc (sending a passport off)

Im not sure why you have 2 birth certificates in different names but that seems dodgy in itself.

They're super strict regards driving licenses, if I want to get one in Canada I have to have my British one destroyed. Not allowed to have both! Stupid rules.

my old man has a duplicate passport. he travels all the time for work, and the duplicate is useful for visa applications while he's off somewhere else needing a passport.

Both have a different surname.

And I never heard from Charlie again. But he's out there somewhere....

well only one of them couldn't have a different surname could it?

Hmmm I dunno, is a bit dodgy have two passports valid at the same time. Under UK immigration law the person usually has to remain in the UK if they're applying for a visa, if they travel out on another passport technically the application would be void, and the immigration officer would be very interested when they try to re-enter! obviously this will not be the case for other countries, but it can be very complicated. Dual-Nationality can make things even more complicated sometimes.

Look into it mate, it costs you an extra 80 quid for the passport but is perfectly legal, the goverment just doesnt broadcast this fact.

Found a bit of information, to gain a second passport you either have to goto a passport office or when filling out your regular passport form you state why you need a second one, it is normally usefull if you work in places like iran or russia and then wish to travel to the US with out having a "random" search of all your luggage etc.
