Can I justify a new motherboard

You can see my PC specs in my signiture, however I am thinking about future-proofing my system (to the extent it can be)

I currently have Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33GHz, with a IPIBL-LB (Benicia) motherboard out of my old HP, to be honest the system performs well with upgraded 8GB of DDR2 Ram, but I'm wondering if it is worth my replacing the motherboard/ram and processor with something a bit newer.

Crysis does run fine on full spec thanks to my new graphics card, but I'm wondering if I can stop the intermitant pc crashes with newer/better hardware, or is that just Windows.

I figure that if I get a new board I'll be able to crossfire with a second graphics card, but is it really worth it? I've been looking at the Maximus but it just seems like overkill for my requirements

If your games run fine on full spec, personally, i would wait until you feel your ready for a full upgrade and have saved enough funds.

Better still, (if you can afford it) sell your present kit now while there's still a demand for it (your DDR2 will fetch a nice price) and off set it against an early upgrade - MB, memory CPU (Sandybridge).

Also, if you don't isolate your intermittent problem before you were to change your existing MB for a crossfire version you may very well find yourself with a spangly new 775 board but still have the exact same problem.
