I have a Gigabyte GA-KN8NF-9 Ultra rev.2 and would like to try and OC my 64 3200+. I understand the process and have searched this site up the wazoo but cannot find anything that explains what the following settings in my bios do in relation to setting dividers etc (the manual only lists about 6 of these!):

1. HT Freq. Ratio: Auto,1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5

2. Cpu Freq: 200 to 456

3. K8 CPU clock Ratio: Auto / 5 to 10 in 0.5 steps

4. Current DDR Speed: 400

5. DDR Clock/Timing: Manual / Auto

6. CPU/DDR Clock Ratio: 2/1, 2/1.33, 2/1.5, 2/1.66, 2/1.83, 2/2, 2/2.16, 2/2.33, 2/2.5 (This is the only one I have a partial clue about! 2/1 would mean DDR at half bus?)

7. DDR Speed: 400

8. CAS# Latency (TCL): 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3

9. Min RAS# Active Time (TRAS): Auto, 5T to 13T

10. RAS# to CAS# Delay (TRCD): Auto, 2T to 7T

11. Row Pre-charge Time (TRP): Auto, 2T to 7T

12. Row to Row Delay (TRRP): Auto, 2T to 4T

13. Row Cycle Time (TRC): 7T to 22T

14. Row Refresh Cycle Time (TRFC): 9T to 24T

15. Read to Write Time (TRWT): Auto, 2T to 5T

16. Write Recovery Time (TWR): 2x Bus, 3x Bus

17. Write to Read Delay (TWTR): 1x Bus, 2x Bus

18. Refresh Rate (TREF):

19. Read Pre-amble Value: 2 to 9.5 in 0.5 steps

20. Async Latency Value: 2 to 11ns

21. CPU Spread Spectrum: Center, Disabled

22. PCI-E Clock: 100 to 150

23. Hammer Vid Control: Startup, 1.550 to 0.825 in 0.25 steps

24. CPU Voltage Control: Normal, 0.0800v to 1.750v in 0.25 steps

25. Normal CPU VCore: 1.400v

26. Chipset Core PCI-E Voltage: Normal, +0.1v, +0.2v, +0.3v

27. HT Link Voltage Control: Normal, +0.1v, +0.2v, +0.3v

28. DDR Voltage Control: Normal, +0.1v, +0.2v

Ok,

Can someone confirm this please:
HT Freq. Ratio x Cpu Freq = should be no more than 1000

K8 CPU clock Ratio should be left on 10

CPU/DDR Clock Ratio should be set to keep DDR at 400 ish

Currently:
1. HT Freq. Ratio: 4

2. Cpu Freq: 220

3. K8 CPU clock Ratio: 10

4. Current DDR Speed: 400ish

5. DDR Clock/Timing: Manual

6. CPU/DDR Clock Ratio: 2/1.83

Thanks

Now at 2402.5 MHz (2010 MHz stock) @42C after 8 hours of SP2004 on priority 10:

HT Freq. Ratio: 4
Cpu Freq: 240
CPU clock Ratio: 10
Current DDR Speed: 439
DDR Clock/Timing: Manual
CPU/DDR Clock Ratio: 2/1.83
VCore: 1.425 (+.025)

Memory (2x 256mb OCUK PC3200):
DRAM Volts: 2.6v
DRAM Frequency: 218.4 MHz
FSB: DRAM: CPU/11
CAS# Latency: 2.5 clocks
RAS# to CAS#: 3 clocks
RAS# Precharge: 3 clocks
Cycle Time (TRAS): 7 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (TRC): 12 clocks
DRAM Idle Timer: 16 clocks
Command Rate: 2T

Do these all look ok?
I added .025v to the VCore after I booted a few times and CPU-Z reported I was only running at 1980 Mhz...

You seem to have the hang of it. That's a reasonable overclock depending on the age of the chip. Make sure you have Cool'N'Quiet disabled otherwise the BIOS will reduce the multiplier when not at load which could explain why CPU-Z thought you were at a slower speed.

Excellent!

Cool'n'Quiet... Im pretty confident that this is disabled.

I will get some better RAM and try to get the speed of that up next.

Thanks for your input.
