Basically when i set up my wireless router and put a wireless lan pci card in my dads desktop, i am going to connect an external hard drive and printer to the router via the necessary servers but i don't want the other computer to be able to access either the printer or the hard drive, i want to connect them to that so that i do not have even more items plugged into my laptop. Is this possible? I'm running XP home, the other computer is the same.

Cheers.

What do you mean by "necessary servers"? Most NAS solutions offer some kind of rudimentary permissions system. If you are planning to run another XP home system as the server then you are out of luck. XP home only supports "simple file sharing" which means everything is public. The only measure you can take is to add a "$" symbol to the end of your share names. This makes them hidden.

Well to connect the printer to the router i would need one of those small print server boxes and to connect a storage device to it i need a lan server don't I? Something like this?

Generally you are saying if i connected the above device to my router then there is no way of stopping the other person getting into it?
