can i run 6400 and 8500 ddr2 together?

well i must admit i did notice a significant performance boost at 1066 so i'll give it a go.

I've run memtest through and all seems fine at the currrent settings

. I need my pc at the moment as I've got a ton of work but when I get a few spare hours to run memtest again i'll give it another go at 1066. I'll get there eventually! :)

Hi again

I'm having some major issues with this RAM now. Occasionally the pc just completely freezes up, and I'm pretty sure its related to this new memory.

I've run a few tests with memtest, and basically I have the following problem...

running just the corsair memory, memtest happily does a few passes with no errors

running just the OCZ, no errors

Both sets of memory, memtest freezes after about 5 seconds.

So basically it seems as though all the sticks of RAM are fine (as in no actual defects) until I run them together. I've tried adjusting the timings and the DRAM voltage, but nothing makes any difference - memtest just freezes after a few seconds. I think maybe I need to adjust the voltage on the north bridge or something, is this correct?

Cheers

I would increase voltage on the North Bridge as you say. Don;t go too high though! Just a notch or 2 if it requires it. You may then have to go for the slacker timings as well.

Hey bazmo :)

Can you confirm what speed/frequency the memory is running at when you run into problems? . . . am I right in thinking that both sets work together fine when they are running at DDR2-800 but when you shift them up to DDR2-1066 you get problems?

Also are we talking about a stock 333MHz-FSB system here or overclocked?

Hang in there! :D

[edit]

Can you download MemSet v:4.0 and include it in future screenshots along with CPU-z [CPU] [Memory] [SPD] tabs please . . .

ok cheers PhillyDee. What is a safe number to go up to? The default is 1.10v. I've tried going up to 1.6 but doesn't make a difference. I also just tried running 1 stick of OCZ with 1 stick of Corsair (to see if the just didn't like being together), but this worked fine!

Basically, 2 sticks in any combination = works
3 or more sticks in any combinations = doesn't work

Also, when memtest freezes, it's always at exactly the same point, after 5 seconds (not sure if that means anything!?)

everything is running at the moment at 333MHz FSB, DDR2-800, 5-6-6-18 timings. Trying to get this workin before I go upto 1066! :)
