Yes, as you'll be uploading as well as downloading.

he hasn't said he'll be using file sharing programs, or P2P or even Bit Torrent for that matter...

i'm not sure on the matter to be honest, i wouldn't think it would matter as you own the actual cd.

Why would he ask the question though if he knew it was legal ;)

You will be breaking the law. One could argue that there's nothing ethically wrong with it (though you could say you're encouraging other illegal users) - but the fact that you owned your own copy is irrelevant, you're downloading the material illegal. Whether you're uploaded or not is irrelevant. The same applies to all the people who think they can legally get an illegal Windows XP CD and use the "key on my laptop" or whatever to install it.

There isn't really such thing as an "illegal windows XP CD" as when you buy it, your actually buying the license, in esscence the CD KEY itself. It doesn't matter how you get the media, you only ever own the license.

dont post asking if its ok, just go do it, no one cares and the admins will close this cos they spout "OMGZ0R ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES, CLOSE THREAD!!111one"

Subtle as a sledgehamer... as always chopchop  .

It would be illegal to download as you would be aquiring a copy of a piece of software that will require, or already have had, the copy protection removed or circumvented.

Contact the publisher of the game. With a little proof, they will either send you the disk for free or at worse a small charge.

Actually, you own the media and a license to install and use the software from that media. What you don't own is the software, or indeed a license to acquire the software from other (unauthorised) means (such as the internet).

Why was I not surprised a suspension got handed out in this thread. Some people need to learn to engage their brain before posting here.

Yes, it's illegal to download the software from the internet, even though you've paid for a legal copy. I'm afraid you'll have to contact the publisher with proof or purchase and see if they'll send you a new CD.
