Upgrading from my Win7 Asus P8 P67 to an Asus X99 hex core system. Lots of software and licences on the original OS C: SSD drive let alone my RAID 5 config. Am I in cloud cuckoo land to think I can use this OS drive on my 6 years more recent new system and that the Intel RST Raid config would also make the 4 x HDD 'pop up' as they are on the new MB system too? I'd migrate OS to the M.2 drive once installed too (over 2000Mbps read! - wow). Thanks

Would it be workable to uninstall chipset specific programs/drivers, back to the bare minimum. Do the hardware change, with the old ssd, install required divers then upgrade to win 10, and let it remove all the old win 7 stuff but still keep personal files and licenses?

It did work - it looked for appropriate drivers for teh new system straight away. But I felt it very messy and perpetuated slow issues from original Win7 PC. The boot speed advantage with Win 10 and the M.2 was remarkable. The old OS Win7 on SSD would take well over a minute to shut down (lots of clutter I guess) but the Win 10 shuts down in 10" and boots in a similar time. I guess it will carry 5 years of clutter so a clean install and PITA setup it is. I knew in my heart!
