I have all my Blu-ray backed up and mostly in MkV format.. I notice when I stream from Plex via my HTC to Plex on my nvidia shield my Yamaha A3050 just displays PCM while the movie is playing.

Am guessing it's not possible to "stream" these HD audio codecs via Plex? And it is some how downscaling?

If so, do you know of another streaming way with full original quality that will display movie posters?

Thanks :)

Yes it can play back all the DTS stuff, You needed to have selected it when you ripped from (im guessing) Make MKV, Its not always added as default

And also if you are compressing slightly in handbrake that will alse need to be added as audio tracks,

I rip all mine with the DTS stuff (i dont have a home cinema) and then all the AAC stuff as backup tracks to use for now

Plex itself can bitstream anything, though of course depends what hardware you're using and what version of plex - on a PC the web player can't but home theatre can, for example. The Nvidia Shield can bitstream DTS-HD MA/Dolby TrueHD fine.

Not sure what you mean in your last question. Again it depends on your clients and server settings as to what quality it will pull from the server and when. You can adjust it on the fly.

I don't think True HD is working at the min through Plex on the Shield but DTS-HD works fine.

True HD does work on SPMC though, its just something Plex are working on.

Should find the passthrough setting in options.
