What does each bit mean?

For example LE37R88BD

They all seem to start LExx and I understand the xx is the screen size but what about the rest of it.
I've noticed some with the letter 'R' and some with 'S' and then '83', '86', '87' or '88' ... Does some of that tell you anything about the TV?

Thanks

I think 'R' is the generation and '88 is the model number within that generation.

So LE40M86BD is 'M' generation, model '86'. The generations don't necessarily follow logical progression though, as M is newer than R and F is the latest gen. Within a generation the model may only differ slightly, ie. M87 and M86 are only cosmetically different.

R came before S, but then M is a better generation of TV again.

The prices usually tell you all.

Dont worry about R88 models, these were assignmed to the DSG group (currys, dixons, PC world), etc and have the same features as say the R87 but are cosmetically different.
Example; the R87 as the round LED lit power button in the middle on the front, R88 as a touch sensitive button on the side and just a horizontal led bar in the middle at the front.
