Can someone please confirm compatibility

btw reason im getting another is old board looks like it has burned out see here http://www.flickr.com/photos/67615774@N04/

turned itself off after i left a video rendering overnight, tryed to boot a few times and it got as far as the 'windows loading' screen before dying again, only now it doesnt post at all, fans twitch but i get no beeps or anything else, local shop tested psu and i tested psu in another machine , which rules that out...

im just praying that ram cpu and graphics card are ok, i dont have another machine i cant test those in :S

just read a review of this board and it states

"If you want to play games, simply forget this product. It is true that this motherboard has a PCI Express x16 slot, allowing you to disable its on-board video and install a “real” video card. However, this slot is a 1.0 and not a 2.0, presenting half of the bandwidth available on other motherboards. Translation: this slot is equivalent of a PCI Express 2.0 slot working at x8"

since i play a fair few games (ati 5870 btw) think i might have to look at somthing else, does anyone have any reccomendations? baring in mind im on a limited budget,

thanks

The problem with getting a new board is that they are all DDR3 these days, the CPU is only DDR2 compatible.

Theres nothing at OCUK that is compatible.

Your in that unfortunate situation where its getting easier to sell the Board/CPU/RAM and starting again.

thanks again stulid, yeah i noticed that it has a proper 2.0 pci express slot rather than the pci-e 1.0 so that solves my previous issue, also i see my cpu is on the supported list, my ram isnt on the list but im told that they dont always list every single stick that works

apologies again, its been so long since i looked at pc hardware seriously... kids etc seriously have effected my pc time :)

Why are you fretting about having the equivalent of a x8 PCI-E 2.0 slot?

All the benchmarks show there's very little difference between x8 and x16 PCI-E 2.0.

As long as you're only using a single GPU card you'll be fine. The only problem I could foresee is if you wanted to use something like the GTX 590 or HD 6990.

Put the £45 towards a better graphics card.

like i say only reason i 'fretted' was after reading a review which i quoted in previous post, i figured the difference between pci-e 1.0 x8 and pci-e 2.0 x16 was substantial, but if its not biggie i can always look back at the first one i linked

well tbh I dont really have a choice as my last mobo blew up

cheers for input though :) like i say i just wanna get back up and running as cheap as i can right now :)
