I've only just got in and I start work in about 6 hours. I only just remembered my manager asked me to hand in my notice. Can someone briefly check this:

Dear Human Resources,

I am writing, to notify " " of my intention to leave for my student placement at Oxford.

I have spoken to my department manager (" ") and we’ve both agreed to the 18th of May to be my final weekend at " ". I’ve been asked to put this into writing for confirmation.

I have enjoyed my employment at " " and I would like to you thank you for your cooperation throughout this period.

My future employer (BMW) may, or will contact the relevant person for a reference.

After my placement I may return to " ". If I do, I will go through the correct procedure.

I wish yourself and the company a prosperous future.

Yours faithfully,

me!

I would drop the line "After my placement I may return to " ". If I do, I will go through the correct procedure. " because it is kinda of obvious. Same with "I've been ask to put this in writing for confirmation" as it is blatantly clear what you are writing here. Don't need to wish them well after you already thank them either.

Re: Leaving notice

I refer to the above matter and my discussion with the department manager "NAME" that 18/05 shall be my final weekend with "work place name".

I have enjoyed my employment at " " and I would like to you thank you for the opportunities over the past "however long".

Please note that BMW will be in contact in the near future for a reference, I thank you in advance for cooperating in this matter and I look forward to working with you again in the future.

With kind regards

Yours faithfully
