Right im looking to get a new ipod thingy.
Seen the itouch, which looks good. but then my mate sugested the 3g iphone.
Basically i like the idea of video playback and all that. With the itouch if im in a free wifi area will i get charged for any google maps and that, that i use? does this include internet? and does it have GPS.
How does this compair to the iphone, as i wouldnt want to use it as a phone, so dont want to be tied to a contract, and could i take the simcard out? would this work in a wifi area also?
whats the price difference?
which would you go for?

I bought a Touch when they first came out and have just moved to an iPhone 3G.

They are similar devices, though obviously the 3G is now a little more sophisticated with GPS etc.

My main reason for choosing an iPhone and selling my Touch is that I was fed up of always carrying it and my phone. Also I found that when I actually did need to use the WiFi services, such as finding a place on the map while out somewhere, or checking something on the web, I could never 'steal' a connection. So the iPhone makes much more sense.

If you don't want to be tied to the contract, there is no choice but the itouch.

The touch is the iphone without the phone, that's it. Minus the GPS and 3G and the onboard speakers, oh you don't have the inline remote in the headphone either.

You could pick up a 2nd hand 16GB V1 iPhone, jailbreak it, unlock it and shove a PAYG SIM in it if you want some more flexibility.

I'm still using both devices here. The 16gb touch for music, and the 8gb iphone for er phone use and apps. Bit odd yes but it works out fine. Hell 16gb isn't even enough anymore for my music let alone apps as it is.

Differences? One has phone capabilities, gps, a speaker/mic whilst the touch has to rely on your headphones for audio and wifi for data. Oh and the touch doesn't wobble :D
