I also have the core xbox with no hdmi and connect via VGA.I have it thre resolution at 1920x1280 which is 1080p i think?
Can you output 1080p from an old non HDMI 360 ?

no, 1080 is the vertical height in pixels. 1080p is 1920x1080. The PS3 dashboard looks great at 1080p, i wish the XBox dashboard ran that high.

Yes you can and I do in multiple ways.
component does it on my SonyTV but most component wont apparently.
or buy the official VGA cable, again it doesn't work on all TVs.
Ok so no games actually use it but it still works.
