Can you recommend me a new computer chair please

Mhmmmmmm

I'm supposed to believe that's happened through normal use?

I'd guess a cat has been using it as a place to sleep.

Ikea Markus!!!

It's pretty expensive, but I just think about it as £12.50 a year as it's guaranteed for 10 :D

Sorry, but PLEASE forget this chair, it is utter ****. It might look OK, it's not expensive in real terms, but it is a very very poor chair for many people, me included. Like many Ikea chairs it's coxics (spelling?) support is terrible and I am currently in immense pain due to this chair which I scrapped after 3 weeks. It's still sitting at home and if anyone wants it is theirs for £50!

Sorry not sure if I am allowed to sell so forget that, but it's **** and if you weight more than say 11 stone it's going to be borderline, but over 13 stone really forget it as a daily use seat.

I would personally look at fabric chairs, unless you want to spend the money on a real leather chair, don't be fooled into buying PU leather (which all the budget chairs will be), which is plasticy (not nice to sit on) and eventually wears like the photo above shows.

Try and get a Staples Kashmir second hand if Staples won't deliver/or do and not at a reasonable price?

I think I'm still over 13st. I was using my Ikea Markus when I was nearly 15st.

It's my daily use chair. Often many hours of use. It's not all that unusual for me to sleep in it.

So I disagree with you.

The only thing I don't like about it is the padding on the arm rests. It's not enough, particularly towards the rear. If I have the chair on full recline and I'm resting my forearms there, it's uncomfortable. I'll probably cobble together some extra padding with some foam and gaffer tape. I've had it a couple of years and the only sign of wear is on the headrest. Maybe that's down to my shaved head - there must be a fair bit of friction with a few mm of hair.

I would suggest that anyone who is going to buy a chair sit in it first whenever possible. Different people's experiences with the same chair vary wildly. I bought a new chair before my Markus and found it unusably bad, barely better than squatting with no chair at all. I sold it to an acquaintance on a "give me £20 if you like it" basis. It's great for her.

Ikea Markeus, wasn't sure at first when I first put it together, but it's awesome. Had it for a year and I spend a lot of time in it, never have any discomfort from it.

My mum and brother have since bought one after trying mine out

If this thread teaches you one thing it is that speccing a chair is at best flawed. The Markus chair that others seem to love has been for me utterly terrible in my home office and coxics is testament to that fact.

[..] it's coxics (spelling?) [..]

Since you asked, it's 'coccyx'.

Odd word. I'd guess that its etymology goes back to Greek, but only because so many medical terms do. I've no idea what its etymology is.

Aha! A quick look online gives its etymology as the Greek word for the bird we call a cuckoo, because it resembles the shape of a cuckoo's beak. Sounds plausible.

I am about 11 stone and I can happily say it is one of the most comfortable chairs I've ever used (then again, I ama little odd, I LOVE posture chairs)

I used to suffer from back pain, but this chair has been perfect for me. I still do get pains after sitting down for hours, but I get that with pretty much every chair in my house.

It is Greek for Cuckoo believe it or not......Galen of Pergamon thought that the bone looked remarkably like a curved cuckoos beak and named it kokkyx.

As I have said it many time, they are poor chairs. The people saying they are great chairs are people are coming from £30 argos chairs or £50 "executive" chairs. So of course they are going to feel like a throne in comparison. But pale in comparison to a proper chair.

In reality they offer very poor support, poor build quality. and are not designed for long use.

There are much better chairs for someone who has a thousand or two spare to spend on a chair, but the OP gave no indication of their budget and so a less elite niche price range is probably more appropriate.
