I'm reading mixed messages online

(1) no - to be able to use these drives at all you need a UEFI mobo or but the HDD with controller card

(2) yes - but not as a boot drive - ie you can only use as a secondary drive

I have a 775 socket Gigabyte mobo - I'm running Windows 7 64 bit

thanks

Discwizard i think for Seagate Barracude XT drives overcomes this, last time i researched it. Things could have changed since.

I have a 3TB seagate running on WHS 2011 with a cheap non UEFI bios in this board: Asrock N68C-S

Drive is set to GPT and formatted as a single partition.

As I understand you need a UEFI bios to boot from > 2.2TB but using it seems fine
