Cancel Guitar Hero 3 and wait for Rockband?

Hi all,

I have asked the missus for Guitar Hero 3, with guitar for Christmas. I had a go on the original GH last year and thought it was great and decided now would be a good time to get it due to the wireless guitar.

I then wondered about MTV's Rockband that is out in the USA. From reading reviews in the states it seems to have gone down a storm and I am now wondering whether I should cancel GH3 and wait for this. TBH I think I would prefer the drumming aspect more than the guitar anyway.

Does anyone know when Rockband will be out in the UK. None of the usual suspects are even listing it at all yet? Also will the GH3 guitar work with Rockband?

If it's a case of you don't have/want to spend money on both then defo wait for Rock Band. I know this might be slightly biased of me as I dont like the new GH but Rock band is guitar and drums + others which I will never play... lol

We don't know when it's out. My guess is February/March time. GH3 guitar will work for 360 rock band yeh
 
I'm going for GH3 purely because I have no interest in the singing/drums part of Rock Band, and other than that its pretty much the same other than the track listing
 
Some of the stuff I've read about Rockband is that the song choices have been chosen mainly for the band dynamic, in other words if you are looking for something to play with a bunch of friends all in the same room together then Rockband is the way to go.

However if you are just planning on playing guitar/drums or whatever on your own then it's not as much fun as you will have long periods of doing nothing, which of course with friends rocking out on drums or whatever isn't a big deal but sitting there on ya own just staring at the screen waiting for when your part starts up again it may get a little tiresome.

Solo play = Guitar Hero.
Lots of players = Rock Band.

Or just buy both :)
 
Also to expand on Scratchy's point. I recently watched a review which said if your playing solo, say on guitar then you wont be playing tons of riff's and solos like GH3

Certainly what GH3 will be doing for me until Rock Band is released. :) I just hope that the GH3 controller will work with Rock Band for PS3 by then, if not it may well be time to sell up and move on to 360 for me. :(

*yawn* If only I had a pound for every time i've heard/seen one of these comments, i'd be ****** rich! They're really tiresome.

Amazingly enough there are a lot of guitarists and drummers that play these games. I play guitar myself.
 
I like it when I am playing a real guitar and the individual parts of the strings light up so I know where to place my fingers... wait... wait... no they don't do that.

I don't get why people say buy a real guitar. Why? So I can suck at it? All I have to do on GH is look at the screen and press a button.
