Hi,

Basically just wanted some advice and opinions from the wonderful people of OCUK. :)

Sadly, well to cut a long story short, over the last few months my grandfather as been diganosed with an agressive form of cancer, and it is gradually getting worse.

(I live with my nan so help her to get through things etc, im 19 btw)

I was thinking of doing a sponsored charity event, just like to walk to the town centre and back (Is this a stupid idea?) Town is like 3/4 miles walk and 3/4 miles back, and was thinking of asking friends and other relatives to contribute.

Just to proove that I can achieve something for myself and just to try and help the charity to get closer to finding the killer disease. :(

Thanks For reading

Hi sorry to hear about that :(

My cousin died from cancer a couple of years ago, i'm doing a sponsored walk for Cancer treatment (not research) next month. It's a good 22 mile walk. Check out the details here

It's a noble sentiment, but 1.5 miles is not very far (unless you're somehow incapacitated).

There are plenty of events that invite sponsorship, and have no fees involved.

Why not give Cancer Research a call, and see if they have anything organised locally.

You said that you were going to do a sponsored walk for raising money, though for which charity? They probably have lots of info because people do this kind of thing all the time.

Btw it's very good to see somebody do this. I did a stint in Palliative Care here in Liverpool back in March and it's amazing to see what's going on (and really really depressing :()...

No, I don't have a disability but I don't know how far I'd be able to do... etc.

e.g. whats too short and too long etc.
