Cancer Support - Comment if you know someone who has cancer :(

Sorry to hear all your sad stories :(

My mum's currently in hospital recovering from a total mastectomy and reconstruction on her sole remaining 'good' breast. She had full-blown breast cancer in 2002-3 after they spotted a shadow on the routine scan, resulting in a mastectomy (with reconstruction) and removal of the lymph nodes from her left arm. This was followed up with chemo which was arguably more harrowing for all of us than the surgery. Thankfully she was declared as being in remission in 2005.

Sadly they spotted some lumps in her other 'good' breast this summer and did a keyhole op to remove them for biopsy. They turned out to be DCIS and there were more that they didn't get first time. They offered more keyhole surgery but my mum took the very brave decision to have her remaining 'good' breast tissue removed to (hopefully) eliminate this from happening again and preclude and chemo or radio therapy.

It's been a tough month or so but I am thankful that I still have her. All this after she had a malignant melanoma on her leg whilst pregnant with me. Thank God she's a fighter...

Some sad stories here which I'm sorry to hear.

I am currently suffering from Cancer myself (third life threatening illness...), Lymphoma to be exact. However the outlook is reasonably good and very hopeful of successful treatment.

My Granda died of cancer about ten years ago now. It was sadly very long and slow and was tough to watch it happen. One of my Aunties has also had breast cancer which has been succesfull treated and another is currently undergoing treatment for the same disease.

Seems to run in the family...

Sorry to hear about your Gramp mate! I hope that he pulls through ok!

My mum lost her boyfriend of 6 years due to Pancreatic Cancer in 2007. As others have already said it's not nice at all :( He was first diagnosed with it in November 2006 before peacefully passing over in Augast 2007.

One of my best mates back home in Australia had cancer, she actually beat it but then got an infection due to reduced immunity and died from that... Very sad time, but all you can do is remember the good things and for Gwen anyways she was getting along and had led a great life and saw her 3 boys go through school and to the starts of their careers at least.

sorry to hear it mate! my bro is currently suffering with cancer, having chemo? and radio therapy, hopfully they caught it early enough! and i hope your Gramp is doing ok and they found it early! keep strong mate!

Found out today that my Gramp has cancer :(
Any support would be grateful.
Thankyou

Sorry to hear that :(

My aunt was recently diagnosed with cancer , actually she kinda knew she had a huge breast lump and just ignored it till it's so huge the entire breast had to be removed. Apparantly they also can't see her ovaries(?) it may have spread throughout her body
