Canon 600D or 60D?

I went from a 350D to a 60D, I spent a lot of time looking at the differences between the 600D and 60D as for most users needs the feature set looked remarkably similar and thus the 60D could be seen as not worth the extra cost. I tested both side by side for use and feel. In the end the 60D won out, yes it was more expensive, but it's a nuch nicer camera to hold.

Ive had my 60D for over a year and this last weekend I was out with a friend and his 600D. The 600D does feel like a very big step down in terms of usability and its build quality. So the best advice as already given is go to a shop and test them both out. :)

I don't use Canon gear but the way canon has demoted their XXD line and rapidly iterated their XXXD cameras while sharing mostly the same sensors seems to mean you have 2 logical choices. One of the XXXD cameras, something like the 500D or 550D (don't know differences but I hear the 600D is no different to the 550D so is not worth the price premium) and you get the sensor in a nice light small body saving a load of money to buy L lenses. Or you go for the 7D and get a proper camera with good handling, ergonomics, speed, AF, mag-alloy body. The XXD line now just doesn't make any sense. I used a freinds 40D a lot and it was a very nice camera, the new 60D is just not in the same league. The 7D is very nice though.

Interestingly Nikon went the other way and have progressively made each camera in the line bigger, better built, better features and moved each camera up a line. You can now drop a line of cameras to still get the features and specs you want.

Well, left it too long before deciding about the Outlet 600ds!
Might wait and if they appear again get one, otherwise see what the 650d or 70d show.
Made the mistake though of reading a 7d review and was impressed by several custom options, especially for the AF.

It's getting on a bit now though so not sure whether it would be money well spent at the moment?
Some rumour is it won't be replaced.

Well, I ended up buying a new 600D.
Considered the other options and even a used FF model, but felt at the moment it gave me the best for the money.
I am sure the extra ergonomics and features of the higher models would be beneficial, but also don't feel as if I have missed anything.
At the end of the day the final result is as much aout me as the camera!!

I really need to get some new inspiration and ideas though!

Would really like to try out full frame out but think I will wait a bit and save quite a bit more too!

well i have the 550d as at the time got a good deal for two lens, memory card, bag, uv filters for both lens. been using ever since can't fault it. now my dad got a fuji hs10 just after a got my 550d just because i got it and he wanted a better camera than this tz5. to keep a long storie short after he had play with my 550d it only took him few month he when out and got a american verison of the 600d off the internet for good price. so i know the differents from the 550d to 600d plus the main different from xxx>xx>x camera's from what i read and photo of people who own one of each serise and place them next to each other. my advise and it advise of other here go to the shop look at the camera, have a feel of them b4 you buy.

ps main different between the camera your notice's is the size and weight of the camera the xx serise is bigger and slightly heavier than the xxx serise and the x serise is bigger and bit more heavier than the xx serise camera. some people tend to go for the xx cause the x is too bulkly and again some go for xxx over the xx/x for the same reason. but bear in mind that the x serise is design for pro, xx for semi pro, xxx for novice's/amateur so the different in feature's/ option and limitation the camera have from each other.
