Canon 7D

I hope Canon bring out a L lens for the crop senser range :) !

If you mean an EF-S lens, they never will as they refuse to have any "L" lenses which won't work on their professional cameras, and you can kind of see the point.

The 17-55 is effectively the "L" walkabout for crop bodies, just as the 10-22 is the UWA. Canon tacitly acknowledge this by allowing these two EF-S lenses to qualify for basic CPS membership.

A little off topic, but you do know the d300s is a dx sensor, right? Unless the D400 (or whatever it'll be called) is a full-frame (doubt it, given the D700's placement, there isn't much more to trim off, and I'd be disappointed if Nikon stopped their pro crop sensors).

Yes, badly worded, sorry. I meant the D7000 is a strong competitor for the D300s and (likely) it's replacement when it comes up. If you don't have a powerful need for something else it's a capable camera which I've really enjoyed using. While the D90 had a place in the product range and it filled it respectably I was never remotely tempted to get one. My point being, I'm in the market for a higher end body but the D7000 tempted me a little, it punches above it's weight.

For me I need a 17/18 - 85 as a basic walk around.
I have read articles that the 17-55 EF-S IS is a reasonable lens. Not sure if the extra money over current Sigma 17-70 is worth it though ! :(
