Canon EOS 350D - Who has one? Honest opinions/reviews?

ive been hanging around this section for a while now, as im planning on getting a camera myself. The problem is i cant decide whether to go for a compact camera, or save my money for a slr.

I really like photography, and i like to think i have quite a creative mind for it, but i never been able to put any use to it, as ive never had a camera :p

now i was thinking of getting a nice digi cam like a sony dsc-n1, which i can take on holiday, but im really looking for a camera to do some proper photography too.

Whats everyones opinions on getting a 350d as your first camera? would i be better spending my money on a cheaper compact cam first? sorry for the lengthy post,

andy

A lot of people will get a decent compact first, but IMO and you want to get into the creative stuff, just go for the 350D (see my long post above for more details)

I've had my 350D for a while now it has transformed how i look at photography, i've had a few Canon film SLRs before this and although i'm nowhere near a beginner the 350D will do everything i ask of it.

The 350D will do pretty much everything a SLR needs to do, yes the 20D/30D have more garnish and nice features but at the end of the day put pics together taken by either and you really can't see the difference. I'm not putting the 20D or 30D down at all because there's no arguing that they're better just that the 350D will do everything you want to get professional looking pics and the money you save can go on glass which really does make the difference :)
