Looking for a point & shoot that will use Compact flash for my wife. The powershot seems like a good camera.

has anyone had/got one...whats the general opinion?

cheers

I've been using a Powershot S30 for the last 4 years and it's a superb camera.
The newer S70/S80 models are a bit plasticy in comparison but you can't go wrong with regards to image quality etc

The S70 isn't plasticy !!! It has a metal body, the S80 IS plasticy thou.

We've had this discussion before - Compared to the S30/40/45 the S70 is plasticy :)

I know what you mean but i don't see any plastic on the S70 to make it plasticy...That's my confusion. :)

ive got the S45 and it feels like a solid lump of aluminium very nice build quality not too heavy and cracking photos

ive got the s60 and found it to be fantastic, i only made it redundant because i've gone dSLR.

i dont really use mine any more, maybe should sell it on to fund the 10-20mm sigma

they really are cracking cameras, with fully manual options, cheap spare batteries because they use the same ones as the 350d's, you can buy an adapter so you can use filters and add on a telephoto or wide angle and i think theres even a waterproof case available for them.

As above except i carry it around for spontanious events I might come across and not have a DSLR. Great camera.
