Canon RS-80N3 Remote Switch

I am in the market for a remote switch for my 30D and it seems the RS-80N3 is the one to go for.

My question is, are there any 3rd party switches that do the same job for a lot less money?

Not sure the price of the genuine Canon one but you can get 3rd party ones for about a fiver shipped on auction sites.

I've had two 3rd party remotes for my 30D and they've both broken within a couple of weeks. I'll be getting the Canon one next!

Edit: 3rd party remotes are about £4. Canon ones are about £30.

Ive got 2 third party IR remotes for my D40X and both have worked great (I only got the second one after the first got lost in the washing machine. It still worked after I found after it had gone through about 1 months worth of spin cycles.

) They also include a LED torch. Cost me 87pence each.. Bargain!
