Hi guys, really hoping someone can help me on this. I recently purchased an Asus S500CA Ultrabook laptop and last week made the stupid mistake of installing the Windows 8.1 Beta. Long story short it made the laptop run likke ****.

So i decide to do a clear format of the whole thing and after a quick Google read that with this and most new laptops i dont need a Window 8 Key as it gets it straight from the BIOS, so i use my previously made USB windows 8 key for my desktop PC and install Windows 8 on it with no problems but now i get warnings saying that windows needs to be activated and that ive entered the wrong Key even though i didnt enter one

So ive been onto ASUS who are absolutley useless and ive been at it for 3 days to now be told i have to send it to them and pay there tech support to fix it, which i would honestly rather smash the thing to peices im that sick of it...does anyone have the slightest cluse how i can sort this without having to speak to another Asus agent because i swear they are specially trained in be being ever so slowly unhelpful !!

This could be possible that your version of Windows 8 is not fully registered. Better way to solve such sort of difficulties by purchasing new copy of windows from any other shop and reinstall it.

OK! The plus point to purchase CD or DVD from another shop is you can ask them some queries which can also helps you through.

I have an acer with win 8 and if i press f2 at start it lets me into the bios. Then to be able to change settings one has to make a supervisor password for the bios (Security section). This then lets you change things like secure boot. If you dont make a password then you are restricted to what you can alter.

Once you have done that you should be able to load Win 8

I suggest you go to an anger management course if you feel the need to smash up a laptop because of a hissy fit over an OS key. I assume this said UBS version of Windows is retail vs the OEM Asus that came preinstalled of which the key is as you rightly said in the BIOS. I suggest you either call MS and hope they can help albeit you may struggle activating a retail version if this is definitely the copy you have 'Downloaded'. Or locate an OEM copy that maybe floating around that will accept your BIOS key. Defo do smash it I will take it off your hands for free. :p
