yo folks, well ive not had a running pc for a few months now due needing to sell bits for financial reasons,

I previously had a 512mb 4870 which was quite a good card.

but now im needing a new one to get pc running decent again

any suggestions? Ive been looking at the 4890, 5770 and maybe the GTX 275/280

but i have no clue which would be best to get

any help would be appreciated

Edit: I also need it to fit into the CM SCOUT case

I've found that in newer games the new featureset of the 5770 allows it to pull ahead of even the 5890. In slightly older games the 4890 is praps a few frames ahead. I'm sure with matured drivers though the 5xxx series will start flexing their muscles. So I would say a 5770 is a better choice even though on paper it's slightly slower.

thanks for the quick replies , ill look into the 5770 , would 2 of them in crossfire be slightly overkill? and what would they be in par of if i got 2 of them?

Unless you are using a screen size above 24" you dont need to go for dual cards. I have two 22" samsung displays and im using one GTX260 896Mb and it runs every game i have now at FULL detail on max res for the 22" what are you wanting to do with the machine to need two cards ? a friend ran two GTX260's in cascade mode where the second card only got used if needed and found that it hardly ever came on and had a temp difference of 25c between the primary card and the secondary proving that the second card was not needed. :)

I was hoping ocuk would have the passive powercolor in by now as it was out on the 22nd November and it's the 5750 or 5770 can notremember did post it inthere hardware request but here nothing about it
