I have a new Windows 7 laptop and can not connect to the internet using wireless. I can connect to the local router wirelessly but not to the internet. When i connect a Cat5 cable to the router and laptop I am able to access the internet.
The laptop has been able to wirelessly connect to my office router and access the internet ok.

My other computers are able to access the internet wirelessly through the router.

Any ideas what the problem may be?

Are you getting an IP etc. assigned via DHCP? Sounds like a gateway/DNS setting problem.

I had issues with windows 7 evaluation ever since i installed it, all my other devices were fine, after much hunting i found that disabling ipv6 and disablling the service mentioned here worked.

Fetster,

Do you have manual IP / DNS / Subnet settings enabled on your wireless controller for your office? If so those would need to be removed to properly connect to the internet on your home router. Can you open CMD prompt and run IPConfig to determine what your receiving IP Address, Subnet and Default Gateway are when connected to the local router?

Also, Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.
