Cant get the sound to work on my new build!

Ok have abit more time to sit down at the PC , Christmas Eve = Hectic :p

You mentioned you have connected something too JAUD1, thats the front panel audio connector normally just for relaying the Green headphone jack and Pink Microphone jack to the frontpanel.

Try unpluging whatever you have plugged into JAUD1 and connecting your headphones to the Green Jack on the back of the motherboard and see if it works, as If windows thinks the hardware is working and is configured to the right audio device, I doubt its driver's more likley hardware related.

I'm wondering if you do have the wrong thing connected the JAUD1 and that's causing issues (although most connectors are keyed to stop the wrong connector being installed)

well i disconnected the HD audio cable that was connected to JAUD1 and I plugged in my headphones to the back and I did get sound but i still cant get it from the monitor

Cool well at least we know the PC soundcard is working now, and the lack of sound is something to do with the monitor.

Do you have an MP3 player or another device you could connect to the audio cable on the monitor just to test (although now we know the PC works you could use that now thinking about it)

I still can't confirm that model of monitor has speakers, which is strange as Samsung is pretty reliable at providing accurate information, but if you have no luck getting sound from it, maybe it has the software in the monitor for volume but never had the speakers installed??

Only way too confirm its actually got speakers would be too take a look , although I wouldnt recommend taking the monitor apart

*EDIT*

I think I might be right and there are 2 versions of the monitor, If you Google Samsung B2230 the results appear to talk about a 22" monitor and Google Samsung B2230HD and they appear to say 22" TV/monitor (although I can find no mention of a B2230HD on samsungs site). If this is the case and therefore similar to the T220 and T220HD then I believe only the HD (TV/Monitor) version actually has speaker's. Still I can't say for sure.

Yes now the external speaker work as well indeed the monitor has the software for volume control but it doesnt have an audio in only audio out so it seems indeed it does not have build in speakers, well thank you all very much for your help.

Stupid monitor cant believe a Samsung full HD monitor doesnt have inbuild speakers my old AOC Vga monitor had inbuild speakers!
