Can't get the Xbox controller working with my PC

The controller was originally working fine, until I reformatted and reinstalled Windows on my PC.

Now for some reason it won't work, at first Windows detected it, but couldn't install the drivers for it. Now it won't detect it all when I plug it in in any USB port.

I tried downloading the XBCD drivers but that didn't help either.

What can I do?

theres some better drivers for it than the ones on the website somewhere
rincewind had the same problem
lol dude, my USB headers weren't plugged in, close enough... you need the XBCD drivers as posted above for the best results, but on www.windowsgaming.com there're official micro$oft ones... make sure it's in a USB2 port all the usual stuff (i'm assuming you're using a X360 controller...)
