Cant ocnnect from sweden to server in uk

Hi,

I've been trying to connect via VPN (PPTP) to the UK server but it starts to dial then says cant connect. The connection has been tested in the UK and works fine, my client is out there for Xmas and wants to do some work as well.

I've been out on holiday to Sweden myself, and found thta i could not connect to any of my servers of client server from there.

Is there some mass "block all uk / sweedish" ip thing going on?

Maybe the server has been locked down to only allow PPTP connections from a certain range of IP's?

Can you ping the server?

Yea you can access outlook web no problem, its just the VPN connection. you can access it from inside the uk, and spain, but not Sweden. I've tried accessing it from Sweden to 6 different customers servers with the same result.

Most likely whatever access you're using out there not allowing all traffic through, plenty of hotel wifi things and the like block anything except http/https.

hes using a 3g card, so its a drirect connection to the internet as far as i know, unless the service provider dont like people using VPN ?

Maybe worth ringing the provider to find out?

Very possible, some providers don't, lots block stuff like skype as well...also most 3G cards tend to assign a private IP address and NAT within their infrastructure, so it's possible you may have a NAT issue (which you can't easily resolve).

I might see if i can change the connection type to L2TP or ipsec see if that has any more luck..
