Cant open control panel in vista ?

Hi

I have been running vista ultimate for a couple of months then all of a sudden i cant open control panel or windows welcome center!

I see that this seems to be a common problem when i googled it but no one seems to no the reason

Any ideas ?
Vista Ultimate 32 bit
C2D 6380
ASUS P5KE WIFI
2gb Geil ddr 6400
Leadtek 8800gts 320mb

Have you installed Tweak? Turning on/off options in that can do odd things.

No i havent installed anything apart from office 2007 but that was a while ago, i havent installed any new drivers

what happens? any errors? open an explorer window and try selecting control panel from the breadcrumb bar at the top?

The symptons are the control panel window opens for a split second then disapears but even opening an explorer window and selecting control panel dosent work, ive tried a system restore from about 3 weeks ago but still no change

Don't know if this'll help but I've seen a few reports of this happening when the 'software licensing' service is not working.

Check to make sure the 'software licensing' service is set to 'Automatic' and if it's stopped, then start it.

Disabling or stopping readyboost caused this issue for me even though it should not make any difference it clearly does.

Try restarting some disabled or stopped services should fix it. Begining with Readyboost.

Restarted the software licensing service in the end which seemed to work .
