Can't play any dvds.

I can install DVDs fine, but whenever I try to play a dvd video it doesn't work. WMP says, "WMP cannot play dvd-video. You may need to adjust your computer display settings.", MPC displays no video and stuttery audio, and VLC displays both stuttering video and audio, tried two different windows installations and many different DVDs.

I had this problem with windows 7. Turned out changing my aged DVD-ROM drive sorted it, though I believe it's a copy protection issue.

I'm using vista business. My dvd-rw is also quite recent. Dvd-decryptor can rip the files properly.
