Having a bit of a problem.

I can view video in any of my browsers (IE, Opera and Firefox) from sites like YouTube but if I try and widows media files like the videos on the BBC website, I get audio but no picture. Quicktime Video plays perfectly.

Now the same problem is occuring with DVD playback!

Anybody have any suggestions?

Re-install windows media player ?

Youtube uses its own player so it wouldn't cause a problem at all but things like the BBC use the built in windows media player on your computer.

Plot thickens....

Just went into display properties and pushed the hardware acceleration slider to None.

Finally was able to view the video.

Sounds like a driver problem so I'll uninstall and then re-install the graphics drivers and see what happens.

Some one I just spoke to this morning said they hard the exact same problem and I suggested driver updates. Have you tried the latest driver?

Think its sorted now.

Went into the drivers and set video overlay to default settings and it now seems ok. bit strange as I never adjusted those settings ever. Somehow it must have corrupted or something similar.

Appears ok now. :)

Goes off to watch pron........ :p

It's just a shame none of the bbc license money goes towards creating a decent website  , any company who uses the real time format and streams at 200kb/s should be bombed.
