Hey guys, i've just bought a new car but want to put a CD/MP3 player in it (getting tired of my cassette tape with the line in on it lol).

The current radio/tape is linked to a few buttons on the steering wheel (volume up and down, change source, and i think tuning up and down etc). is there anyway i can use these buttons with a new CD/MP3 player? or is there a cd player out that works with these?

btw not totally essential but would be great if the cd player had a line in or aux in on it for an ipod

Cheers :)

Depending on which head unit you buy and which car it's going into it should be possible to hook up your steering wheel controls. Usually there's two parts, a head unit brand specific interface (e.g. Pioneer) and a car manufacturer specific interface - it's then just a case of plugging everything together (I think I spent about £35 on this, most online car audio sites will stock the adaptors).

I went for the Pioneer P55BT plus the IPod adaptor which plugs into the back of the head unit and allows browsing by album, artist, genre etc - much better than a line out connection imho. It can be a bit slow searching through a large list of albums however beyond that it's easy to use. I have found the Bluetooth functions really handy too.
