Car damaged from hail storm, car insurance advice please?

So then.

If I was to claim and get the car written off, how much would they give me? For a 2004 MG ZS 1.6 I'd say £600-900. How much could I buy it back for?

I've just done a quote and with 0 no claims my premium would be £1000 for the year, its £670 at the moment.

Should I just leave it?

By the time you've paid the excess plus a few years of increased premiums (NCB is something of a red herring, a claim on your record will hurt you even if your NCB is protected) you'll probably be worse off. Either live with it, or if it really bothers you driving around with a dented car flog it cheap to someone who isn't bothered and buy something else.

Policies are different but this actually happened to my father a few years ago and he was covered. Like you his car was worth about a grand. Damage to so many panels meant it was written off. He bought it back for buttons and drove it around for another three years before flogging it as spares.

finally got home to inspect the damage and every single panel has a dent in it! even the boot! which is 4 foot away from a fence in a sheltered corner!

fingers crossed I can claim - from what my friends have experienced if you have fully comp insurance you should be ok :)
also The Guardian has a little article on it too

I travel between sites at work, and the Tamworth depot had nothing, as did the Nuneaton depot! both not far from Hinckley at all.

As my paint has seen better days anyway, I'm now flirting with the idea of plastidipping the whole car which might make the dents less obvious, sky blue anyone? Quick awful photoshop :D
