I thought I would put this out there and get some thoughts from other members as I'm tempted to change my car.

I currently have a 2019 VW Tiguan BITDI 240 BHP Diesel. We went for the Tiguan for a few reasons.

I occasionally tow a caravan. At present, it's on a site but may in the future need to tow it elsewhere.

I also need the boot space for when we go to the caravan which is a monthly trip and we make very good use of the Tiguan's space with all the stuff we take plus dog!

Finally although not essential I like the four-wheel-drive as I live in an area that's prone to snow and on a steep road. Therefore the 4x4 ability helps. Although my old BMW 1 series with winter tyres never had a problem either!

The situation has come about due to the high prices being offered for used cars. I've owned my ex-demonstrator Tiguan for around 18 months. I paid £29,000 and Cazzo and others are offering around £32,000. My car's warranty runs out next year (I know I can take out another via VW)

Via a broker, I can get a new VW Golf Alltrack (200 BHP Diesel) complete with a towbar for around £31,600. This gives me a car with slightly larger boot space, still all-wheel drive, full three years warranty, and cheaper running costs. (Tax on Tiguan has the additional £350 a year on the road tax until 2024.)

My head is saying do it for the aforementioned reasons. But I was not looking to change until I saw the price being offered for my car.

What would you do? All suggestions are appreciated for helping with the decision!

Have you asked for a guaranteed ETA on the Golf? I highly doubt it will be acceptable to you.

Im waiting for them to get back to me.
Take anything other than "it is on the dock/in prep" as a pinch of salt. The reason your Tiguan has rocketed in value (relative to where it should be) is because new car supply is very slow/non-existent/model dependant.

Well, I've literally just sold my Golf GTD after 8 months of ownership and having put 14,000 miles on the clock - for a £2160 profit.

That pretty much tells you what I think (Although I do prefer your current car to the proposed upgrade).

Cazoo....grrrr !!

Got a great offer on my car, good bit better than elsewhere. Private plate. So I put the plate on retention, put the replacement reg that DVLA supplied onto the car, waited for the new V5c to arrive and when it did phoned cazoo to get them to change the reg on the sale. "can't do that sir, the reg on the valuation MUST match the reg on the car that arrives, and we can't change the details on the order".

Ok, so just get it re-valued using the new plate ?.....It's been over 2 weeks now, and cazoo is not recognising the changed reg. WBAC and various insurance companies started to recognise it a week ago...but not Cazoo. And they will not to a valuation by phone or VIN or any other way, unless the automated system recognises the plate....meanwhile the valuation keeps declining each day.

If I'd known this, I'd had sold it with the private plate.

Update
Cazoo offer expired now as i have chosen to wait until next year. Rephrase that ... My wife has chosen that we wait until next year lol. My car will I expect be worth a hell of a lot less next summer but she shares the bank account so shares the decision making eek.
