hey guys, not sure if this is the right place for this but...

can anyone recommend me a decent holder for my XDA II that doesnt use a suction pad on the windscreen??

seen a couple of things on ebay but i cant make up my mind if they look really cheap and tacky or not

any help would be appreciated

Look for broadit products (i think thats how its spelt). I got one for my MDA compact/o2 XDA mini, and the quality is superb :)

they look just the job, was also after a swivel mount so i could turn my xda horizontal and vertical which these seem to do

one question, how does it fit to your dash etc, is it screwed in or does it clip onto somethin like the egay ones (they clip onto the fan vents)

For the Brodit mounts you buy a car-specific 'pro clip' that clips nicely to a bit of trim, then the actual mount is bolted to this.

The car-specific bit is the main reason they're a bit expensive, but it does mean you get the best possible fit. Quality products :)

bit more googlin to find i need the proclip thing to plug the car holder into.

what are the difference between the angled one, centered one and right one???

EDIT: nevermind lol, i see the diagram on the handnav webby

Hmmm, £44 for the lot. i see what ya mean about it bein a tad pricey, but id except it to be quality stuff liek you guys said

I've given up on the suction mounts as I just cant seem to find one that will stick to the screen well enough. I've now taken to putting my PDA in the centre console storage binnacle which works perfectly. I have to glance down to check the screen but that's no great problem if done judiciously and the voice commands are usually good enough.

All 3 suction mounts I've had for my PDA/GPS system have worked perfectly! The key is to get a good seal to begin with, they're practically impossible to pull off once you've got that.

The problem with suction mounted kits, is that scrotes have now started breaking in to cars for satnav units they think mught be in the glovebox. They are even breaking in to cars when the mounts have been removed if there is the residue from the suction cop visible on the windscreen.

I have no problems at all with the suction cup coming up.

What I do find, however, is the PDA sits there and vibrates over every bump. Very annoying.

When i used to use a windscreen mount for my PDA i set it up so that it was naturally pressed against the dashboard, stopped all vibrations as you described :)

yeah thats one of the main reasons i dont want a suction mount one, cos people tend to break in thinkin the pda or whatever is still in the car.

at the moment, ive jsut got it lyin in the small compartment infront of me gear stick, but its annoying havin to look down at it etc and cos i use it for mp3's as well, havin to look down to see what button your pressin to skip to the next track can be tedius when id rather keep my eyes on the road (or at least closer to the road if it was dashboard mounted lol)

Yep I found that too, tried to get the mount so it was resting on the dash to minimise this but then it just rattled which drove me bonkers. Ah well only got to last another 8 months with the PDA as I'm soooo having a factory fit job in the next car.
