I have done a search on car insurance, and confused.com found me the cheapest so far in order are...

Mint
Swinton
Quinns

All 3rd Party F+T, all within a few pounds of each other

Which would you choose ?

Thanks for any help.

Mint is not an insurer, neither are swintons.

Arguably Quins aren't too :D

Who are the actual insurers behind Mint and Swintons?

Post Office and one of the admiral lot (admiral/elephant/etc)

Mint is backed by these ?

If so, seems like a decent deal :)

Do i want "Protected no claims" or not ?

If im 3rd party, i dont need to worry about excess charges do i ? Or are they excesses i have to pay if i damage someone else ? :o

So would you specifically avoid going with mint ? Elephant is another £200 on top of Mint.

I presumed bonus protect referred to the future bonus lol ... what it meant... no idea :p

So i have 0 NCB atm , in one years time, do i want to protect it ? or not ? I thought you didnt claim, so got a bonus of £xx off, and this increases as time goes on...

The excess only applies to your car.

Just done a quote through moneysupermarket & confused, all the quotes than came back are almost double what i can dig out myself from my prefered insurance company.

How does that work when your car isnt repaired?

Third Party Only Insurance
By law, as far as the Road Traffic Act(s) are concerned, you need to have a minimum level of car insurance. Third party only car insurance will only cover your liability to others. There is no cover for damage to yourself or your vehicle.

Unless I've been confused for years the excess is payable for the repair for the other car?

It doesn't. If you don't (or can't) claim for your damage then you don't pay the excess.

As said, the excess doesn't apply to any claim a third party may make against you.

So whats the point in them telling you the excess as under 3rd party your car wouldnt be repaired??

I'm really confused now :(

Because with TPFT you have fire and theft insurance.

So if it's stolen - you pay the excess, or if it goes up in flames - you pay the excess.

Do a Pass Plus course and get 1 year NCB for 6-10 hrs worth of lessons = result! :)
