Well ive had crappy quotes since ive had my car off the road (SORN) due to my knee op. 9 going on 10 months. Been looking as ive had the all clear to drive again but £500 :( was in the £300's before ...not happy!

Anyone have a clue why its gone UP so much?

Isn't the average insurance premium supposed to be 1000gbp per person in the Uk due to people purposely crashing cars ?

Is it me or does a 700gbp annum premium for a 24yr old male on a mk4 1.2l fiesta 3rd party seem a little high on a car only worth 1800gbp with 4yr nc ?

ps: sorry my pound symbol doesn't work on my keyboard so gbp means pounds sterling.

I reckon you'd find you won't get it much cheaper than that, but you could insure much higher performance cars for the same price..

Elephant have been alright for me normally, but got it slightly cheaper from Noel Dazely this time round (£895). Car as per sig, 24, 3 NCB, DN3, teacher.

Not looking forward to officially hitting my mid 20s next summer, but I will welcome a nice chunky drop in the premium, for definite! Hoping for around £500, but hopefully I'll have changed car by then/around then, though.

I've heard adding an older female as a named driver can bring the premiums down by quite a bit. Does anyone know if there any disadvantages to doing this? Would it negatively affect the named driver in anyway?
