Argh, bit of a rant here.

Just had my renewal from Tesco, brief outline of me: 23, driving a Fabia vRS TDI 2005 which has been chipped. 4 years no claims, no accidents, points, convictions, totally clean.

Tesco have sent me a renewal form, so as per standard practice, you look at the price of the renewall, curse at it, then trot off to other companies. This was the point then in which I found out hardly any one else will touch me due to the modification.

Direct line (same underwritten company as Tesco) refused to quote me, as did Churchill, and only two companies (Elephant and Admiral) were able to quote me through confused.com. Quinn-direct stated that due to the modification, I would need a full MOT, or at the very least a mechanic to check the vehicle over, before they can quote me, which is more expensive than Tesco any ways.

All the quotes have been done through the phone (other than confused.com) so at least I've been able to speak to some hot sounding girls (Liverpool Accent, Irish Accent, and Normal sounding.)

Already phoned Tesco and they have missed my modification off which I stated at the time of buying the car. Only for me to point it out and the woman to go "we don't class it as a modification, so we've not quoted you more for it, it's on the policy though". So I guess this time around, no discount for me! Even tried to say "well Churchill have offered me this:" to which she replied "can't get near that, you're already at the lowest you can go.

Bloody palaver.

Rant over.

Have a word with the guys on Briskoda, there's plenty that have had their Fabia's chipped. I don't know anything about them, but Chris Knott Insurance are a Briskoda partner, so they might be worth talking to...

Superb, well worth a call that.

Cheers :)

Tried Privilege? iirc a few on here have heavily modded cars through them (I'm thinking of turboed mx5s here :) )

I read everywhere that Adrian Flux are far and wide the best for insuring mods, many a civic person on a owners site i use are with them and they have no problems getting quotes for anything inc' engine swaps etc

My xedos 6 has 17in alloy wheels which are non-standard and this caused me much problems. I used Endsleigh Insurance (underwritten by Fortis) and I just ticked 1 of 30 boxes for the mods I had. I pay £286 Comprehensive for the grp 16 Xedos 6, I am 39, with 7 years NCB, liecence held for 21years with 0pts and no accidents. Included the wife on the policy as well buy she has 2 claims in the past 5 years and it brought the quote down. Give them a try.

I know everyone knocks flux but I never had a problem with them through 7 years and 2 claims :)

Only moved as Priv. were offering 0% on payments, Flux could match the price but not the payment rate.
