Is there a website or some sort of generator idk? that can basically tell me if I type in say the car make, model, year, milage etc and get a basic quote example of insurance.

I tried other websites but it wants me to fill out the whole thing, phone, email, post code, address, history all that. I just want a quote from basic info not to actually insure anything just to get a rough idea what im looking at, any help appreciated.

confused.com.

But it's rubbish.

Yeh confused is a rip off, they put loads of money onto quotes. try moneysupermarket.com, me and all my mates use this. It searches loads of insurances companies and I have'nt ever seen cheaper quotes than the ones on here ;)

Confused.com saved me £250 over my current quote, and Moneysupermarket kept losing my details and then gave me an absolute rubbish quote. I guess what works for some may not be the best for others :)

Ditto.

Confused.com saved me about £100 after I'd rang round 30 or so insurers and brokers, gone to Moneysupermarket and a few other websites.

Saying one source of insurance or another is cheap or expensive just doesn't hold up because the individual variation is so high.

Confused.com did an excellent job for me - saved me quite a bit.
Fed in all my details, got me loads of quotes with the cheapest being from Norwich Union.
Norwich Union then gave me a call later in the day, said they were top of the quotes and could they do anything else to make the quote better.
We checked their policy gave me the same coverage as my existing insurance, reduced the premium further by adding a second driver, added some breakdown cover at a nice price (as my RAC had just ended too) and I took the policy out there and then.

Nobody will quote me apart from quinn on what i want next year and thats only becuase im using a standard car, ive heard they dont insure modifications! :(

Just run a quote with ecarinsurance through, so much cheaper than anyone else.

£1100 for a turbo, or just under a grand on my car with alloys, lowered greater than 20mm, uprated brakes and a standard engine replacement quoted. So im guessing it will be somewhere between the two :)

Excellent! Got 2 months left to run on my policy first with elephant though!

For a really fast quote look up swift cover, you only have to put in a few details and it'll give you a rough quote but then I don't know if they are normally more expensive than other companies

Learn to type faster or get a utility which stores all your common personal info centrally then fills in forms automatically

I forget the utility name Ive used in the past maybe someone will know, it was included with firefox or some other utility in the past

Quinn will be fine with mods, all mine are declared (lowered, alloys, tinted windows, full exhaust, induction kit) and made no difference to the policy, just fone and check though :) Silly cheap aswell! shame you cant understand them and they work in caravans :p (irish lol nah they're ok really)

Use the site skimmers like confused and money supermarket, then choose the best 3 insurance companies and phone them direct. The skimmers don't ask you EVERY question, so for some sites they make conservative assumptions.
