I've got something similar, I've got an itrip FM transmitter which plugs into my ipod or iphone, and transmitts, bonus is it charges as well at the same time. I wouldn't know anything about actual purpose built MP3 storage/transmitter. That product on the ebay page looks a bit ropey, don't know how long it would last personally.

I've never had a problem with mine, occasional needs a retunes to get rid of any feedback I'm getting, and have never had any problems that people will chime into the thread about it getting loads and loads of interference driving through major cities. Mine was about £50.

Only keeping it until I get a new head unit which will have a ipod connector plugged into the back.

I'd really like the ipod adapter but my wife only owns a 2gig ipod shuffle ( square one )and i can't find any wireless FM transmitter?

And she doesn't have a Aux port on the radio to use it via a cable so wireless is the only option :(

I had one of these FM transmitters a while ago, used it in my old DAF truck - which had no AUX input - if was fine in & around London (M25 area) but travelling around the country, I found it suffered an awful lot of interference.

Re-tuning it was a pain too, as its frequency was very close to Radio 2 and often I'd get my music with Radio 2 mixed in with it!

Would it not be an easier option to get a 3rd party radio & adaptor plate for the RAV or is the stereo part of the dash as such and thus a pain to replace?

It works but the sound quality is crap compare to your CD player, I go as far as to say that the radio actually sounds better.

They're ok, but nothing more in my experience. I only use mine now for charging my iPod in the van and I use a cassette adapter instead to play music from it instead.

Useless in London or the south as there are so many pirate stations, mine was binned in a day

I suppose that depends on the frequency it uses? - as I say, mine was fine in & around London where I agree, you'd think it would suffer from the pirates.

Yeah it's a pain to replace so this was one option I was looking at which I now have doubts about after reading your experiences with using them.

I was hoping a apple one would be better but as I said my wife only has the shuffle 2 gig one and I can't find any official adapters for that .

The problems that any radio station's signal will over power it so it suffers from interference really badly. It might be fine if you are not traveling far but driving between counties can see a new station pop up at your bandwidth or close to it and you are screwed.

It is a short term solution, or use it to charge your phone, nothing more.

I had a Belkin one somewhere which was far far better than another one i had (admittedly it was £30 compared to £5). You could choose the frequency you wanted to broadcast on so it would hold the signal fine. If i find it i'll let you know and i'll drop it in the post to you.

Now that would be brilliant if you still have it please.

I'll happily give you some cash for it and cover postaged.

Thanks.
