Car suggetions

Hi there,

After passing my test around 4 months ago, I picked up a 1.4 RT 98 Clio II for £1750. I sold it considering I didn't quite fancy it anymore and I wanted a diesel. I am a student so finding something that would last and wont cost a lot would be great. What can you recommend? 1K to 1.5K budget. Cheaper the better.

Man reasons were I could benefit from a cheaper car and possibly a diesel, as I was doing a lot of motorway miles. I sold the car for £2300 plus I owed my dad £500.

Why do you want a diesel? If you prefer the way they drive, cool, but if its to save any money you'll probably save very little.

Look at something like a Citroen Xsara - engine to suit whatever taste it is you have, 1.6 and 1.8 petrol or 1.9TD. SX and Exclusive are trim levels to get, you get climate control etc.

Insurance on those can be quite high. Am looking at maximum IG6. I've been looking around for a while now and cannot find anything decent at all!

Only thing can think of is a 306dt or a xsara with the same engine. Maybe a xantia even?
