Ok, here's my predicamant.

As some of you know I bought a brand new toyota celica GT about a week ago. But I didn't have any money left for insurace so I've been waiting for pay day (tomorrow). Due to my lack of insurance I havent been able to pick the car up, and the garage hasn't been able to tax it.

I've figured out who I'm going to get insurance with, and I'm going to buy the insurance and pay it off in one lump sum tomorrow. I'm just wondering what the quickest way to get the paperwork is so I can get it taxed.

I asked them on the phone and they said they may be able to fax it to me but probably won't be able to e-mail me a copy. So will I be able to tax it on the faxed cirtificate, or am I going to have to wait for snail mail before I can pick the car up.

I really need the car ASAP as I'm carless atm. Any other idea's?

Get them to fax a copy of your Certificate to the garage direct.. they did that for my Mini :)

Thats the quickest way..

Why can't the garage tax it under his policy, thats how i've done it every time, infact i've never had to ask nor show my insurance certificate.

Hmmmm, good point. I've just grabbed the garages fax number so the insurance company can send them a copy. And I'll see if he can tax it under the garage policy...

IMPORTANT
If you have recently purchased this vehicle and you have not received your full Registration Certificate (log book) from DVLA (the green slip alone is not enough) you should NOT use this service.

If you do use this service without having received your full Registration Certificate (log book) from DVLA then your new tax disc may be sent to the previous keeper of the vehicle.

Nothing would ever happen if you did.

 Actually, if by chance you drove past a Panda Car, they have an ANPR unit, it will show as untaxed AT LEAST for 48 Hours because DVLA are so slow... Plus they can see the colour of the disk on display... so they will put 2+2 together...

No panda cars in the met have an ANPR unit. Only traffic units would do anything.

Panda Car I meant as any Marked unit so inc of Traffic just using it as a loose term. regardless they can still see the colour of the disk even if they arent ANPR Equipped. Traffic Wardens if you park it..

What you're trying to say is make sure you're tax runs out mid-year. Then your disk colour won't give you away :D

when i bought my last car from a trader he let me use his trade plates to drive to the post office and also use his insurance cert to get the car taxed. If you're paying out all that money its the least they can do for you :D
