No, its an arbitary figure. I've already said I think it's there for arse covering reasons :p

Good stuff, knowing what warranty companies are like with wear and tear issues.

You know like "my bumper fell off", response "well Sir the bolts rusted through from wear and tear from road conditions". Sounds crazy but a friend got that story.

Wear and tear issue usually makes warranties useless.

With the mileage you do have you consider trading the car in for a Golf Bluemotion?

funny you should mention that, I've just ordered one but i went for the optional wooden deck chair edition.....no cushions so it saves weight and thus fuel ,and thus, the planet

As if you'd understand, you are stuck with a 5 Series instead of a Golf BM

Lol, yeah. I need my head reading, fancy buying such an uncomfortable car that gives me great pleasure when I could be driving something that makes me repent my carbon imbalance with puritanical zeal.

ill give them a try, but one thing that thread seems to reccomend is moving to Mobil1 0w40 and im already on that! lol.

Tom.

I dont think anyone recommended it, just some people didnt read the thread and then started talking about group buys and costco.

Well, look on the bright side. It takes us normal drivers several thousand miles to see what an oil is like in our car. It only takes you a few weeks ;)

Sorry, I'll get my coat.

FWIW I never liked mobil 1, I've always had problems with it being too thin in the cars I have used it in. Maybe you should try Fuchs?

Personally I just use the oil that the car has had ever since it rolled out of the factory and see little reason to be using Mobil 1 or whatever instead.

Well the dealers use SLX Longtec but yea, we buy it as Edge. I telephoned the supplying dealer who told me they'd always used SLX Longtec 0w30, and my local dealer uses it as well, so thats what I use.
