Carabao Cup - Fourth Round ** Spoilers ** [29th Sept - 1st Oct 2020]

Pogba has been pretty good since coming on, the right player for this game, just holding up the ball and pulling in a couple of defenders before releasing the ball.

Bailly is such an improvement over slabhead.

Amazing the difference when you have players whose first instinct is to go forward....Rashford has transformed things too...

I got player of the season when i was 13 at cb for my local club and i'm an improvement over slabhead because i can run mate. I havent played for 10 years but a pre season would sort me out.

I'm sorry but Mata is only ever "good" when he is playing against utter dross that allow him loads of time on the ball and don't press him. Against anyone half decent he is awful. Slow, lightweight and makes too many mistakes. I love the guy and he seems like one of the nicest players out there but he is the ultimate luxury player.

He's a better squad player than most of the rest of the dross outside the 1st XI though.

£100m signing. Had Woodward been in contact a few months back and is now trying it on near the end of the transfer window?

Been directly involved in 12 goals in his last 15 games. Never complains about game time, great attitude. Good experience for the younger heads on our team to learn from. And all that despite being played out on right wing most of the time. He's the exact kind of squad player you want.

That's the problem you have the world's most expensive center back. He cannot be dropped. Similar situation when we had Lukaku and in some ways Rooney at his end when they were performing bad.

If Bailly can stay fit he is our first choice CB tbh. Either of Lindelof and Maguire makes no difference.

How much are we paying for someone whos main selling point is his attitude and experience. He gets wheeled out against **** opposition and in games we should be thumping the opposition. I don't know how anyone can watch him against even a half decent opposition and think he should be on any more than £100k a week MAX. His salary is apparently £160k/week. Hes just another example of a player that is OK but massively overpaid and not of the quality we should have for a first XI player and far too expensive as an occasional squad player.

I guess I'm the only one watching Everton. Calvert-Lewin with another hattrick. For a striker that didn't look like he could score he's really starting to impress.

Were Neville and Giggs worth what we were paying them in the last few years of their careers? Older players will always be on slightly more but it's difficult for us to see the value they add off the pitch on top of it. Mata is a great player when used right and has had some important impacts for us over the years. When you consider the way this clubs has spent money I'm not going to cry over an extra 40k or so for an experienced player who adds so much.

Indeed.

the real test for us is how we perform if the injured players are not available, Richy, Allan and John Joe all injured tonight.

I think that will be Evertons problem this season. A real decent first eleven but not that much depth. I'm a sure that is something Ancelotti will fix in the next couple of windows.

The International break is coming at a good time for you. If you can get through this weekend then you've got another couple of weeks before the derby.

Genuinely shocked by Calvert-Lewin's form though. 5 games into the season and he's already scored as many as he did in 3 of the last 4 seasons and just over half last seasons return.

Chelsea drop Kepa, we drop Pepe. Price shouldn't come into it unless you have a weak manager...

Salah's the only real surprise in that side to be fair. It was clear from the last round that Klopp didn't want to play 2 kids at CB and I guess we'll see VVD play just 45 mins with one of Gomez or Fabinho coming on for the 2nd half. The rest of the side pretty much picks itself but Salah starting ahead of Origi and Elliott is a surprise. It will be interesting to know why Shaqiri isn't involved - has he pulled his calf again or could he be off?
