Carbs how much per day? Time to lose weight again.

I'd never go near Ketosis, I don't fancy it.

But i'll be running a short 4 week diet but nothing too strict. I'll simply be dropping carbs for breakfast and also having a low carb evening meal.

Breakfast - Protein and fat
Dinner - Carbs and protein
Pre workout - Carbs and protein
Post workout - Carbs and protein
Tea - Protein and fat (low carbs from veg)
Bed - Protein and fat

I went from 110kg to 65kg in a couple of years, although the last 5 were a mistake as i was happy where i was, but kicked the booze and it fell off fast.

My diet consisted of

Large beans on toast - 4 slices of toast, tin of beans, poached egg and cheese.

~900 calories

3 or 4 apples, couple of bananas and grapes

~300 calories

Couple of Sandwiches - Ham, Beef etc

~500 calories

Obviously this was not set in stone, sometimes i would have pasta with a sauce or a cooked lunch etc but beign at uni this was the staple 4 or 5 days a week.

Back at 11 stone now and wouldn't mind knocking it up to 11 1/2 stone and cut the body fat back down to sub 15% rather than the almost lardy 19/20% now.

I'm about to start a diet too, for years I walked around at 12 stone, when I moved in with the Mrs 3 years ago the weight started to move upwards, it peaked at 16 stone and I said 'screw this' and became quite an active runner, trimmed it down to 14 stone, which I was ok with. Over the last year, that 14 stone has soared to 18.5 stone, mainly due to moving from an active job to an office job, and because of daily liquid lunches.

The plan now is to cut out the alcohol as much as possible, perhaps one night out a month or something along those lines, cut out all the junk food (which will probably be easier once the alcohol is cut out) and get back on the treadmill I've got sitting downstairs. I'm looking to lose around 70 lbs, which is going to be a long painful road!

Wish you all goodluck with your diets, anybody have advice for monitoring your progress? Previously I've become obsessive about weighing myself, to the point that I weighed myself 3 or 4 times a day, I don't want to go down that route again, a monthly photograph perhaps?

Hmm, I'm looking to gain about 1 stone and have set out a 2400cal a day diet (I’m 5'9/10"ish, ~140lbs now). Using the nutrition data website this results in about 330g of carbs a day, though in practise I usually go slightly under and make up more calories in protein, but it'll be slightly over 300g most days in reality. When gaining weight (bulking?) this is fine I assume? Or would one gain a lot of unwanted fat? I'll only really be doing non-cardio exercise (heavy callisthenics), though I will do at least some degree of walking as required in the day. Eating 4 times in the day, trying to keep the last meal (post excersise) as less carbs, more protien. Any thoughts?

I'm on 0 carbs and have been for 3 weeks now, have dropped about 5kg, will let you know what i'm at when I do my weigh-in on Friday.

Eating mostly, protein shake, apples, yoghurt, mixed fruit (pineapple, kiwi, mango etc.), chicken with brocolli, peas, carrots, green beans, fish and some cashew nuts/almonds (if I fancy a snack).

Will try and have about 5 seperate eatings times during the day, pretty easy to get on with but just requires some forward planning and have a packed lunch for work helps too. Want to get down to 80kg which I should get to by the end of the year at what point i'll starting weight lifting and bugging freefaller every day for advice:D

Does not compute

Good work there Gurdas 5kg in 3 weeks is great progress. :)

What effect is fruit having on your diet? My verdict: HELPING YOU LOSE FAT!

Carbs smarbs. Your goal is fat loss. You're achieving that goal. Remember, the goal is fat loss and not being zero carb! Zero carb or attempting zero carb is just a tool to achieve the end result.

Ok thanks, I guess I didn't think too much about it as I was still losing weight. Will perhaps reduce the amount of fruit I eat and replace it with something else as I want to nail my target. All working progress though:D

Look up 'scivation the diet solution' really effective way of shedding some bodyfat, add a high carb day in once a week or every other week and you'll be golden.

down to 134.5kg now on low carb diet, been on it about 8 weeks now... started at about 148kg

Thought i'd post a little update, down to 96kg now after Week 6. So that's a total loss so far of 7kg. Diet still consists of chicken, vegetables, yoghurt, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, boiled eggs, protein shakes and mixed nuts. At this rate of progress I can't wait to see where I am by my birthday, December 18th:D

Going to start on the weights this week too seeing as I have been given a bench:D
