Was greeted this morning by the latest gift from our beloved cat, a young bird. Theres no blood and it seems to be in good shape, breathing is slow and regular, it isn't moving much but it doesn't seem to realise what has happened. We've put it in the airing cupboard for now wrapped in a cloth, I soaked another thin cloth with water and squeezed it over its beak and the little thing opened up and let it drop in, but I'm not sure what else to do. It needs to be fed, but what? Worms? We don't think it can see us, it only responds to touch.

Or would you say this is a lost cause and stress will claim it in the end?

I can provide pics if necessary.

yeh phone the vets to come you could try feed it but dont the mother regeratate the food in there stumachs to feed the baby birds ?

sorry for spelling

been looking after my mum's cat while they are away, went round a couple of days ago and there was a dead rabbit in the living room and fur everywhere  :(

If you ring anyone you'll just get a lecture about interferring with birds.

Similar thing happened to us last year but we rang the RSPB and got told we'd broken the law for disturbing a nest ( didnt see it when cutting the hedges ) and 3 or 4 babies fell out on the grass.

I rang them for advice and they just said put the nest back and put the birds back in.

it wont survive without its mother chances are she wouldnt have it back so its doomed

best off dispatching it

i suggest placing it on the patio and stoving its head in with a house brick

Post videos of the cat toying with it on YouTube, call it Tom + Tweety have a fight.

Think Tom will win this round,

once came home to my 2 cats (1 recently past away) cornering a sparrow hawk in the garden the thing had gone into shock .

I'm suprised it didn't have them both, Saw some kind of bird of prey only a little one mind you struggling to fly off with the biggest wood pigeon you've ever seen.

Keep flying like 2 feet and dropping it, watched it for around 5 mins and it got borded and then ripped its head off and flew off with just that.

Gotta love nature.

Seen a few Red Kites near where my mum lives, they'd have had the pigeon for breakfast.
