Cat C Bike

no they are projector lenses as standard, thats why im sticking in a hid kit:Dits just easier to do it while the fairings off,its all in one piece on this bike top/side fairings/headlights all one piece, rather silly imo

@mucky your lucky haha, wont devalue your bike

did a bit of googling and its dead easy to pull the error codes on these models

just press mode till it shows the odometer

35iyi52.jpg

then press and hold the mode button till it displays the error code, which for me was code 63 which is the exhaust servo which I suspected as it doesn't twitch/turn after you turn off the ignition

cured the flashing fi warning light

someone had wired the control wires on the exhaust servo backwards, just swapped them over and no flashing fi light:D

I'm waiting on the forks to comeback, then I can start to fit everything, fairing ect

EDIT: idk whether to go for the m4 or the mpg slip on,m4 lookslike it would melt your boot heel?

The log book arrived today, can't believe its had 5 owners:eek:

Last owner only had it since June last year, and wrote it off in a year

forks are done and ready to pickup

welded the bracket on and said there was an ever so slight bend at the bottom in the one with the broken tab and he's straightened it out

£40 it cost me,so should have them back in tomorrow, ill post some pics when I get them

got the forks back, straightened and welded, also test fitted my hid kit which arrived this morning, was a straightforward plug and play although I had to hacksaw a thin slice off the connector that was attached to the ballast so that my headlight bulb connector would fully click in,apart from that it was easy 2 minute job,you can see the thin slice I cut off in one of the pics

the difference is amazing, pure bright white light compared to the regular bulb,i went with a 55w 6000k bulb

fitted the high beam, and gotta do the main beam later

forks back in and test fitted new fairing, nearly done now,few more bits and pieces

I don't suppose you took a before/after pic of the beam down your garden or something did you?

I can do that when I put it all together, ill leave the main beam with a regular bulb in so you can see the difference at night, the fairings dead awkward, you have to bolt the side fairings onto the top fairing first, then bolt the headlight to the top fairing then try to fit the whole thing to the bike

fitted the fairing/headlights today, also cut out a small piece to allow for the r&g radiator cover bracket

99% done now, just need a few fairing fasteners/rear pillion peg and inner right side fairing cover/trim

EDIT: refitted the screen correctly later haha

took some pics for you benji, best I can do with my crappy phone, showing the hid compared to the normal bulb, and one with just the led sidelights, the colour is pure white to the naked eye yet it shows up blue on pictures idk why

if I were you id get a kit,im pleased with the results

this is the kit I used although ive seen a cheaper one for £13 so shop around, you want a h11 fitment or h8/h9/h11 usually they are banded together like that

EDIT: remember its high beam vs low beam so it might look off,but its best way I can show you, compare each light

I hope this thread has inspired you to try a cat c bike,i very nearly pulled out but im glad I didn't now,the damage wasn't a lot tbh,it was a fairly easy fixup, still risky though so id advise anyone to be carefull and look it over thoroughly if you can:D;)

EDIT:I saved roughly between £1000-£1500 over a similar year/mileaged undamaged machine

lets hope you heal up eventually, just give it time

pick yourself up a bike to tinker with over the coming winter months

@BenJi I went out on it tonight just round the block, the lights are much better than any of my other bikes:eek::D

Only round the block,I got nothing on it ATM,it felt alright

@craig you'll hear it when I get a louder can on it

I'll probably lay it up till next summer

Edit: lights were brill,a car pulled over n let me pass instantly,I'd get some, they are £16 now I paid £20

It felt a bit slow compared to my 98 zx6r but I only went round the block and it hadn't warmed up properly, plus I got a loud no baffle can on that so it could be not hearing a loud pipe

I need to use it everyday to decide yet whether to keep or not

fitted new solo seat and exhaust arrived yesterday, cant fit it though as it wont fit to the collector box due to the graphite seal being too narrow, need to pickup a link pipe

£3770 inc the extras,exhaust can,hid lights,seat cowel,and radiator guard

£3500 without those

The exhaust has been damaged, shortened but looks so good you can't tell tbf,at £130 I couldn't resist, seat cowel was a cheap Chinese one for £17

To fit the can to the cat/box I'd need a smaller gasket and its £40,but I can get a decat link pipe for £49 so I'll get that instead and remove the catalytic converter

Yeah and I think it will be complete then

Do you run with the baffle out on your akro Benji? I tried it and it sounded nice, but I couldn't get a proper seal yet

bought some sticky pads and stuck the ballast to the inside of the side fairing out of sight, still waiting on a pair of pillion footpegs from hong kong and ill probably order a decat pipe on Thursday

ordered some pop connectors aswell for the various plastic inner fairing parts as it was missing those

still waiting on some link pipes to be made up,guy said he needs to make a batch up on a mandrel, that was over a week ago:(

so frustrating as I wanna hear this akra properly

Yeah its the decat pipe I need, the chap who makes them needs to make another batch, the cat chokes the bike plus its heavy so best to remove it tbh
