Literally as the title says. Whenever I upgrade my drives to the more current releases I cannot watch Blu-Ray films as there's no picture. Currnetly the drivers and software I'm using are:

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution or am I possibly doing something daft?

Thanks in adance
Antar.

Is your graphics card HDCP compatible?

If not then this is probably the cause of your problem.

There is a program that can help called AnyDVD HD that has a trial period. However for the same money to buy the software you could treat yourself to a newer HDCP compatible gfx card.

I've never used AnyDVD HD myself so cannot comment on how effective it is.

The card is HDCP compatible and will play Blu-Ray disks on the old drivers but not on the new drivers. It's just a nuisance more than anything else as I'd like to have the newer drivers for the performance increase in games but it just not worth the hassle when I want to watch Blu-Ray films.

The software I'm using to watch the blu-ray films is Cyblerlink Power DVD 8.

Edit: Just saw the edit :o

This is one of the reason why I ditched both my ATI cards recently.

ATI or Cyberlink are very slow to update to the newer AACS encyption keys you need to watch Bluray.

The solution is either:

1: Go to Cyberlinks website and see if they have released a newer patch with the latest AACS encyption keys.

2: Wait for ATI & or Cyberlink to update their software.

I had to wait several days for this sometimes which is very annoying when you cannot legally watch Blurays you bought but its designed to keep the hacking community on their toes so they keep updating the AACS every few months.

Fox is the worst movie studio for this and recently I could not play any of my James Bond BDs for 5 days until Cyberlink & ATI did the update. Worst time for this to happen is when ATI drivers are almost a month away as they usually release in the first week of the month but if AACS update after then you can get problems. Its not going to go away either as Cyberlinks licence for BD includes a clause to update AACS whenever required. This is also why Cyberlink removed the ability to play HD rips in newer versions of PDVD as they were asked by the movie studios to do this to slow down piracy.

but anydvd hd removes the protection so Cyberlink removeing the ability to play HD rips in newer versions of PDVD is nothing really..

i've not had a problem playing my bluray movies disks

Unfortunately the problem isn't quite as simple as that;

The Old drivers (I think they're 8.5s in the image) work and allow me to watch Blu-Ray films.

The Newer drivers 8.7 and up don't work. The Blu-Ray film works and will launch but all that happens is that I can hear the music and see the non-animated part of the menus.

I'm hoping that maybe there is a setting in the CCC that changes with the new driver install that I'm simply just missing.

have u tryed anydvd hd ? tbh it sounds like gpu + driver problem.

try this, run powerdvd then try playing the movie in hardware mode its in preferences then click video. if its already enable try disable it.

Yeah I know this but to buy a legal copy of anydvd hd costs almost £100. Only people who have any real interest in using it are either extreme enthusiasts who object to the HDCP encyption and have TBs of storage space to store their discs (unlikely) or use a display device (most likely) which is not HDCP compliant or pirates (very likely) who like to download hd rips. It has no legitimate use especially as you can easily disable Bluray region coding with a simple free workaround in Windows.

Up to 8.11 drivers for 4850 + 4870 worked for all hi def disc content I have. Like I said Cyberlink & or ATI are slow to get their acts together and co-ordinate the patches to allow playback which is usually why you get a blank screen. This is the no1 complaint on Cyberlinks official user to user support forums. Go check it out and you will see loads of threads on the subject.

i agree anydvd hd costs a lot. but my gf bought it for me as a gift. i use it to store my bluray movies on a hdd for easy access. that way i don't need to keep asking my gf to put in the disk...

i have 4 Centurion DiscHub for my dvds and games but i wish they would make a bluray version too..

I've found a work around to this, as I had the exact same problem.

Uninstall all ATI software, I used driver sweeper and the ATI uninstaller. Uninstall powerdvd and any related products. Reboot.

Install ATI drivers first, reboot, then install PowerDVD etc... and any updates.

It's a bit long winded, but it worked for me.
